Label Shoppers to open in Houlton

HOULTON — Jon McLaugh-lin, Executive Director of the Southern Aroostook Development Corporation in Houlton, announced that officials at Label Shoppers told him this week that they would soon be opening their new store in Houlton.
Label Shoppers is a division of New York based Peter Harris Clothes. The company was founded in 1970.
The store will provide bargain, name-brand clothing at amazing prices. Their buyers get these great fashions as a result of cancelled department store orders, over production of items or discontinued styles. They purchase this clearance clothing at rock-bottom prices and pass the savings on to their customers. McLaughlin said that a company official told him “Others’ mistake is your gain when you shop with us.”
According to information obtained from their promotional materials, Label Shopper prices are significantly lower than you would pay for the same item at a mall.
Renovations are nearing completion on the 6000 square foot Houlton store located in the Houlton Shopping Plaza on North Street. It will employ 10 people.
Officials will be in Houlton this week to interview for employees. According to McLaughlin, Label Shoppers will be personally interviewing Wednesday, July 14 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Thursday, July 15 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Interviews will take place at the Shiretown Motor Inn’s banquet room.
The Houlton store will be their 37th store and their sixth in Maine. Other locations in Maine include Dover Foxcroft, Jay, Oxford, Skowhegan and Lincoln.
McLaughlin said in a statement, “In talking to local residents who have visited their Lincoln store, the merchandise is top quality and the savings are spectacular.  They are glad to see Houlton will soon be home to Label Shoppers.”
