Enfield, Conn., Caribou, and Glens Falls, N.Y. – Willetta “Billie” (McGrath) Snow died peacefully surrounded by family at the age of 90 on July 7, 2010, at Fort Hudson Nursing Center, Ft. Edward, NY. She was the beloved wife of 47 years to the late Paris J. Snow (1989) and daughter of the late Malcolm and Ruth (Allyn) McGrath. Willetta was born on June 2, 1920, in Caribou, Maine and lived there most of her life, later residing with her daughters in Enfield, CT and Glens Falls, NY.
Willetta graduated from Caribou High School and Colby College, Waterville, Maine where she was a member of Delta, Delta, Delta sorority.
Willetta’s priorities were her husband “Pat”, their daughters and their farm home at Grimes Mill. She helped her husband operate the Snow Brothers potato farm and her parents the MD McGrath Insurance Agency. She taught American History at Caribou High School and worked for the US Federal Office of Personnel Management.
Willetta was a member of the First Universalist Church of Caribou and the Ladies Aide, AAUW and Book Group, Cary Hospital Auxiliary and Co-Chair of the Memorial Fund, and was a Trustee of the Caribou Public Library.
In her leisure time Billie enjoyed the farm, flower gardening, cooking, cross country skiing, and maple syrup making. She was an avid reader and an Aroostook County enthusiast.
Willetta is survived by her two loving daughters; Jane Griffee and husband, Donald of Enfield, CT and Constance Nealon and husband, William of Glens Falls, NY, her four beloved grandsons; Stephen Griffee and wife, Sarah, Michael Griffee and companion, Sarah, Jeffrey Nealon and wife, Cheryl, and Brian Nealon and wife, Amanda, two great-grandchildren; Cameron Griffee and Renee Nealon, her sisters-in-law Helen Raymond, Pauline Doolittle and Ermatrude Andrews and several nieces and nephews. Willetta was predeceased by a brother Malcolm McGrath, Jr.
The family thanks the staff at Fort Hudson Nursing Center for their thoughtful care of Willetta.
