The harvest break, for many schools, has lead to fewer games on the schedule over the past week, but there have been plenty of activity in the Heal Point standings.
The Central Aroostook Panthers are at the top of Class D, followed closely by Easton and Washburn. In Class B Presque Isle tops the standings, with Camden Hills in a close second.
Presque Isle 3, MDI 1 — The Presque Isle Wildcats continued their winning ways over the weekend dropping the MDI Trojans 3-1. Isaac Lajoie got Presque Isle on the board first by redirecting a free kick from Jake Player into the goal with seven minutes to go in the first half.
MDI came out firing to begin the second half and quickly tied the score.
With 17 minutes left in the game Khyver Lowe scored off a deflection and 20 seconds later Wilder York scored to make it 3-1.
Andrew Kofstad made 14 saves on 18 shots.
Coach Joe Greaves said it wasn’t the Wildcats best game of the season, due to some strong play from MDI and the harvest break. Three key Presque Isle players are working the harvest, and working up to 12 hours a day can sap some energy.
Today the Wildcats play down at John Bapst in Bangor.
“We have some very big games coming up and we must be at our best,” said the coach.
There is a schedule change for the PIHS varsity soccer teams Oct. 1 matches at home against Washington Academy. The girls game is at 2 p.m. and the boys at 4 p.m.
