Glenwood LaRoy Lawrence
LAWRENCE, Glenwood LaRoy, 76, EASTON, January 19, 2012. Spring interment will be in Good Corner Cemetery in Good Corner, NB. Arrangements in care of Duncan-Graves Funeral Homes, Presque Isle.
EASTON – Glenwood LaRoy Lawrence, born Jan. 18, 1936, in Knoxford, New Brunswick, went to be with the Lord after a time of illness at the Aroostook Medical Center on January 19, 2012.
Glenwood’s work was diversified, from driving a delivery truck in Toronto, Canada, working on different farms, and welding. He spent 30 years at Lawrence Brothers Repair, (Glen’s Welding in the later years), in Mars Hill, sharing ownership with his brother Lester for the majority of that time.
Glenwood had a real love for his church. He served in different capacities, but the thing that was dearest to his heart was evangelism and visitation. He cherished his weekly outing with Pastor Matthew Maxwell calling on people in need. They went to homes, hospitals, or wherever the need was, sharing the good news that Jesus was there to help.
Family members were very important to Glenwood. He loved his children and grandchildren, his only granddaughter being very special. It was important to have them close by in the last hours. His extended family was important also. He enjoyed getting together with his brothers and reminiscing about the good old days. Stock car racing, trips to Toronto, and their latest vehicle purchase were among their favorite things to talk about. Many good times were spent with Morrison and Mary Cumming in their homes and their camp at Grand Lake. Their passing left a great void in the lives of Glenwood and Marilyn. Trips to Bangor, mostly to meet up with Pauline and Franklin Dalzell, Marilyn’s sister and brother-in-law, were greatly anticipated. Glenwood looked forward to each trip and always enjoyed their time spent together.
Glenwood’s final journey has taken him to Heaven, a destination he prepared for many years ago. He will be greatly missed.
He was predeceased by his parents, Bedford and Alice (Costin) Lawrence; sisters, Eleanor Lawrence and Shirley Myles; brothers, Clarence and Edwin Lawrence; and brother-in-law, Peter McLaughlin.
Glenwood is survived by his wife of 54 years, Marilyn (Good) Lawrence; and his four children, Brenda (Brian) Bradley of Hartland, NB, Bryan (Earlene) Lawrence of Easton, Vonda (Parish) Lavway of Presque Isle, and Darren Lawrence of Westbrook and his fiancée, Anniya Mvula of South Portland; his grandchildren: Shawn and Paul Bradley, Michael, Taylor, and Jessica Lawrence, Christopher Grass, and Zackary Lavway; his brothers and sisters: Lester (Audrey) Lawrence of Mars Hill, Lewis (Jaci) Lawrence of Woodstock, NB, Vinal (Sharon) Lawrence of Knoxford, NB, Geraldine Lawrence of Knoxford, NB, Wilmot (Heather) Lawrence of Knoxford, NB, Sylvia (Hardy) Underhill of Moncton, NB, Marian McLaughlin of Saint John, NB, Eldon (Gail) Lawrence of Mars Hill, and Katherine (John) Phillips of New Maryland, NB.
Funeral services were held Mon., January 23, 2012, at the Easton Wesleyan Church with his son, Bryan Lawrence, Rev. Brian Bradley and Rob McDowell co-officiating. Spring interment will be in Good Corner Cemetery in Good Corner, NB. Online condolences may be expressed at Duncan-graves.com
