Maine wood carving club ‘Border Carvers’ begins in Littleton

LITTLETON — Local men and women are discovering the joys of working with wood as they meet at Dee Cote’s shop in Littleton Mondays from 6 to 8 p.m. for wood carving classes.
The group, called Border Carvers, has enjoyed their time so much that they have joined the Maine Woodcarvers Association and begun the 10th chapter in Maine and the second in Aroostook County — the other being in Limestone.

They will still have classes on Monday nights, but the first Monday of each month they will have a club meeting and carve together. There is no need to take classes in order to join the club.
Along with other projects of their own they are working together to produce Veterans canes, which are presented to Maine veterans. This is a national program and Maine Woodcarving Association has been participating.
