PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — Northern Maine Community College recently named Griffin Goins as the new dean of development and public affairs. For the past four years Goins has served as the director of marketing and communications and associate director of development and college relations, respectively.

In his new capacity, Goins will provide leadership and management of several components including marketing, communications, the NMCC Foundation, and the Alumni & Friends Organization.

“I am pleased to announce the appointment of Griffin Goins as the new dean of development at NMCC,” said NMCC President Timothy Crowley. “Griffin has demonstrated a strong commitment to the College and the community over the past years. In addition to his recent work history, Mr. Goins brings marketing and management experience with digital strategy and content development that will serve the community and the College well for many years.”

Goins holds an MBA from Husson University and is currently in a doctoral program studying higher education at the University of Maine, Orono. Goins’ research focuses on workforce development and expanding access to education in economically-challenged rural communities.

“Both NMCC and The NMCC Foundation have a legacy of realizing the College’s vision of ‘Transforming lives through education,’” said Goins. “I’m honored by the opportunity to continue this great work and apply my unique skills and background to support the College.”

Prior to his work in higher education, Goins worked in marketing, media, and communications in Oregon and California, serving as a marketing manager at Paramount Pictures for the four years immediately prior to his move to Aroostook. His bachelor’s degree is in magazine journalism from the University of Oregon.

“Mainers are re-discovering the essential value of both hands-on trades and professional credentials. NMCC is positioned as the most affordable, supportive, and tech-forward institution providing a gateway to that better future,” Goins said. “I’m grateful to serve what I consider to be a two-year college second-to-none.”

Goins serves as a committee member for the Central Aroostook Chamber of Commerce’s annual Oktoberfest, is a member of the #HigherEdSocial marketing community, and the National Council for Marketing & Public Relations, which brings together communications professionals focused on two-year colleges.
