7-Day Outlook: Wednesday, July 2-Tuesday, July 8
Wednesday-Friday
The Valley will be between two frontal systems today. The first, which affected the area yesterday, will stall along the coast today while a ridge of high pressure builds into the region. Then, on Thursday, another cold front approaches from Québec while the coastal front moves east.
The surface cold front moves through Thursday triggering showers and thunderstorms, with isolated strong/severe storms possible with the main threats being wind gusts and small hail. By Friday, an upper-low will approach behind the departing cold front and move across the St. John Valley with another round of showers and thunderstorms for the area, with hail possible in any stronger storms. A chance of showers and thunderstorms linger Friday night as the upper-low moves away.
Saturday-Tuesday
Saturday, a warm front approaches and may move through the region Saturday night, bringing a slight chance of showers to the Valley. Otherwise, skies should be partly cloudy. Sunday, a cold front will begin to approach from the north and move across the area Sunday night producing a chance of showers and thunderstorms ahead of the front. The front is expected to move slowly through the region Monday into Monday night, continuing the chance for showers and a few thunderstorms.
By Tuesday, the front may stall near the Downeast coast as an area of low pressure moves along it. This could lead to more showers and possibly a thunderstorm, depending on how close the front stays to the coast. Further ahead, partly cloudy skies are possible for the late week period next week as high pressure builds into the region.
