Hunter Farrar of Hodgdon, a senior at Hodgdon Middle/High School, has been selected to receive the 2026 Principal’s Award, Tyler Putnam, Superintendent of MSAD 70, announced.

The award, sponsored by the Maine Principals’ Association, is given in recognition of a high school senior’s academic achievement and citizenship.

Over the last four years Hunter has demonstrated an amazing work ethic in the classroom and on the varsity football field, Putnam said. Although Hunter has been successful in the classroom and on the athletic field, he will always be remembered for his ability to help anyone in need.

“Hunter’s empathy for others goes above and beyond every day at our school. Hunter embodies all things that we hope for in a graduate from Hodgdon Middle/High School. I am so proud of his accomplishments and we all will miss him next year,” Putnam said.

Farrar and other award winners and their principals attended an Honors Luncheon on April 11 in Brewer.

The Honors Luncheon recognized these outstanding students with the presentation of an individual plaque and the awarding of ten $1,000 scholarships in the names of former Maine principals and MPA executive directors: Horace O. McGowan, Richard W. Tyler and Richard A. Durost.

The Principal’s Award is presented in more than 100 Maine public and private high schools by member principals of the MPA, the professional association which represents Maine’s school administrators.
