    SHERMAN – Jeanie M. Smith, 60, "Our Hero" died August 5, 2008 at home surrounded by her family. She was born September 15, 1947, the daughter of George H. and Nina M. (Morgan) Cullens.
    Jeanie spent most of her adult life in Sherman caring for her home, flowers, and family. She was an inspiration to everyone she came in contact with. She unselfishly put herself second even with all her health problems she has faced and dealt with for the past 18 years.  She was an amazing mother and exceptional wife. She has taught many people the real meaning of what courage is and never lost faith in the Lord.
    She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Daniel Smith; three children, Rena Harrington of Wilmot, NB Canada, Tammy Cullins of Sherman, Jason Smith and his wife, Linda of Stacyville; six grandchildren,  Morgan and Josh Goodine, Matthew and Aaron McAvoy, Wyatt and Chandler Smith; one great-grand-daughter, Lindsay Jean Goodine; a very special aunt, Midge Cullens; and her pet cat, Tommy. The family would like to thank all the people who helped her at EMMC, Penobscot Valley Hospital, Visiting Nurses of Aroostook and a very special thank you to Diane Lane.
    Friends called 1-3 p.m. Sunday, August 10, 2008, at Calvary Baptist Church, Stacyville where funeral services were held at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Donnis Willigar as officiate.
